2017 is here! What a joy and a grace it is to reset, restart, renew, rethink, and redo. Whether you are a believer in New Years resolution or not, we have a new proposition for you, a better way. This year we are changing things up and implementing a family mission statement.
The purpose of a family mission statement is to, from the ground up, equip your household with peace, purpose, and pace. A family mission statement is a simple statement you create for your family at the outset of each year.
Family mission statements encourage peace and unity as your family determines what they want to empower another with and fight for as one. Purpose is created and becomes the bedrock of all your family does both together and apart. As your family begins to bring about this purpose, pace, or the ability to stay empowered and inspired over the course of a period of time is created.
For our family this year, we are choosing to: Make the Most of Where We Are.
Simple yet incredibly significant for us. For me personally, this can look like making the most of 8 am carpool on a Thursday after being up all night with my youngest, pushing in at a workout to truly gain a sense of a job well done walking out of Bootcamp, or savoring those moments in my home all alone with my children when toys are scattered throughout every room and my sense of sanity seemingly rocked!
For my kids, this can look like sharing with others, developing a grateful heart for the food they have on their table, or learning the power of courage in hardship during a hard test, soccer game lost, or dispute with a friend. Whatever circumstances 2017 presents for us, we are prepared with perspective and purpose to make the most of where we are, good or bad.
To create your own family mission statement this year, look back over 2016, find the places and the times of loose-ends. The events you wish you could do-over, the perpetual negative emotions you found yourself in, use these desired do-overs to piece together your family mission statement this coming year. Its incredible when we infuse purpose in these places.
Here is to a New Year of Peace, Purpose, and Pace!
